Chemical Processing Mag Cartoon

The fact that I didn’t think I’d find my humor useful being said, allow me to waste no time in contradicting myself. In going through my files, collections, and treasured mementos (the junk I had in boxes in the attic) as I was preparing this book, I came across some early cartoons that I had completely forgotten about. My dad was a chemical engineer and subscribed to a magazine called Chemical Processing. The magazine was actually drier than it sounds, and apparently I felt it could use a little sprucing up. So when I was in junior high, I sent the editors some submissions consisting of humorous single- panel cartoons. None of them was accepted, primarily because the art looked like it had been done by a seventh grader, which it had been, but I think I can definitely say with a fair amount of equivocation that the writing was really not all that too terribly horribly horrible. So apparently the idea of doing a humorous cartoon wasn’t as foreign to me as I had thought.
